
Joan Carlos Wizel is an associate in the firm's General Litigation Department. His practice focuses in the areas of complex commercial litigation, appellate advocacy, insurance coverage, insurance defense litigation, government liability, professional malpractice, and constitutional law and civil rights litigation.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Wizel served as a Judicial Intern to the Honorable Raoul G. Cantero, III, of the Florida Supreme Court, and to the Honorable Leon M. Firtel of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida.
Mr. Wizel graduated magna cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration with a major in Finance.
He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the St. Thomas University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude as the Valedictorian of his class. Mr. Wizel also served as an Articles Editor for the St. Thomas Law Review, and was a member and competitor of the Moot Court team, for which he competed in the National Criminal Procedure Tournament organized by the University of San Diego School Law, advancing to the quarterfinals and earning a mark in the top 10 appellate briefs.
