Education
Mr. Llopiz graduated With Honors from the University of Miami, earning Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics, Psychology, and Political Science. Subsequently, Mr. Llopiz graduated from the University of Miami with a Juris Doctor, Cum Laude. Mr. Llopiz attended law school on a full-tuition scholarship, and received numerous other distinctions and accolades during law school, including walk-on membership to the International and Comparative Law Review, Dean's Honor Scholarship, Haas Humanitarian Award and Scholarship, Moot Court Finalist, and Who's Who Among American Law Students. He was also twice selected as a Florida Bar Foundation Fellow during law school and his fellowship was twice selected for underwriting by the Florida Lawyer's Legal Insurance Corporation. Mr. Llopiz also served as a Guardian Ad Litem for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit of Florida, advocating the interests of dependent children.

Mr. Llopiz has considerable experience defending government liability claims, and manages the firm's government liability division. In his practice, Mr. Llopiz routinely represents municipalities, state agencies, state universities, state attorneys, special taxing districts, water management districts, school boards and districts, and public officials and officers. Mr. Llopiz has successfully defended numerous Federal and State parties against such actions involving issues of sovereign immunity, qualified immunity, 11th Amendment immunity, federal state action doctrines, 1983 actions, wrongful death claims, municipal code violations, public decency laws, Chapter 119 violations, sexual harassment, sex discrimination, retaliation, Title VII, Title IX, Federal and State whistleblower violations, fraud, and a battery of common law torts.
Mr. Llopiz also regularly defends professionals and firms against claims of legal malpractice, fraud, title/closing/real estate practice defects and irregularities, mortgage fraud, lending practices, corporate transactions, securities, title insurance, and broker relationships.
As part of his commercial litigation practice, Mr. Llopiz has successfully initiated and maintained several complex Federal and State actions, including an out-of-state federal action on behalf of a Fortune 500 Company against another Fortune 500 fully-controlled subsidiary involving complex issues of constitutional law, First Amendment rights, foreign government bid contracts, and substantial economic damages. He has been influential in the drafting of high-profile healthcare legislation and successfully defended various constitutional challenges by major national hospital chains. Mr. Llopiz has also both defended and prosecuted claims on behalf of major hotel chains, national residential management companies, airlines, and franchises.
