Deborah A. Lee
is a Partner at the firm’s Miami, Florida, office. Deborah focuses her practice on all aspects of intellectual property, namely, trademark portfolio management, acquisition, litigation, and counseling. Deborah’s practice also encompasses copyright and computer law. As a Partner, Deborah is responsible for the day-to-day affairs of the firm’s intellectual property group and supervises a team of associates and paralegals in the management of several trademark portfolios.

Deborah has extensive experience in prosecuting domestic and foreign trademarks and counsels clients in the selection and adoption of trademarks. On a regular basis, Deborah advises her clients on clearing, establishing, maintaining and protecting trademarks across various industry sectors. Deborah is also skilled in drafting and reviewing license and franchise agreements involving trademarks and copyrights.

Deborah assists her clients in trademark infringement, unfair competition and copyright litigation throughout the United States and has prosecuted trademark actions in opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Deborah has also won several domain name disputes in front of the World Intellectual Property Organization and has negotiated the transfer of several domain names to her clients without court intervention. She has similarly defended clients in claims involving meta-tag disputes.

Deborah has provided presentations, guidelines and manuals to her clients, and works close with their marketing departments to ensure proper trademark usage in order to maximize the protection of their trademarks. 

Before joining the firm in 2003, Deborah practiced in state, federal and appellate courts in all areas of commercial litigation.  Deborah is admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. Deborah earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida in 1994 and her Juris Doctor degree cum laude from Nova Southeastern University in 1999. During law school, Deborah served as a staff writer for the school newspaper and was an active member of the school’s women’s lawyers association.
