Alexander Blanco is a partner in the Workers’ Compensation Department in the firm’s Miami office focusing his practice on representing employers and insurance carrier’s in the defense of Workers’ Compensation, Longshore and Harbor Compensation, and retaliatory discharge cases.  Mr. Blanco has an active case load and offers in-house seminars for various clients throughout the State of Florida.

Education:  Mr. Blanco graduated with honors from Florida International University in 1996, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice.  Thereafter, Mr. Blanco graduated from Mississippi College with a Juris Doctor in 1998.  During law school, Mr. Blanco served as law clerk at the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office, Consumer Protection Division working on complex issues involving fraud, conspiracy and racketeering. 

Bar Admissions & Professional Memberships:  Mr. Blanco is admitted to practice in all State courts in Florida as well as the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.  He is a member of the Florida Bar Association and Cuban American Bar Association.

Notable Client Work & Experience:  During his practice, Mr. Blanco has been involved in two landmark decisions:  Shear Homes v. Sheppard, 764 So. 2d 705, (Fla. 1st DCA 2000)- case which states that a claimant who elects to pursue benefits under FWCIGA cannot recover attorney fees and costs from employer; Lopez v. Ideal Roofing Systems, 821 So. 2d 453 (Fla. 1st DCA 2002)- declares provision of death benefits which limits compensation to  claimants that are aliens not residents, of United States or Canada, to amount which is less than amount potentially available to claimants of United States or Canada, is unconstitutional. 

Mr. Blanco is fluent in Spanish.  He currently maintains an active case load throughout the State of Florida.
