
Lourdes Abalia is a litigation associate in the firm’s Miami office. Ms. Abalia specializes in the areas of complex commercial litigation, insurance defense, personal injury, corporate and contract disputes, international business disputes, and labor and employment law.
Ms. Abalia graduated with honors from Loyola University, New Orleans, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a concentration in Business and Communications. Thereafter, Ms. Abalia earned her Juris Doctor degree from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law.
During her legal education, Ms. Abalia served as a federal judicial intern to Judge John O’ Sullivan of the U.S. District Court in Miami, Florida. As a federal judicial intern, she researched complex legal issues and wrote extensive reports and recommendations. Subsequently, she served as a research assistant to Professor Elena Marty-Nelson, where she assisted the Professor in writing a Wills and Trusts book. She received credit in the book called Florida Wills, Trusts, and Estates. Ms. Abalia also joined the Journal of International and Comparative Law as an Assistant Research Editor. Additionally, Ms. Abalia served as the Secretary of the Hispanic Law Student Association, which provided her with the opportunity to mentor other Hispanic law students and to organize various charities. Through her dedication to pro bono work, she received a Pro-Bono certificate for her volunteer work in the legal community.
Ms. Abalia is admitted to practice in all state courts in Florida. She is a member of the Cuban American Bar Association. Ms. Abalia is also fluent in Spanish.
