
Joseph D. Perkins is an associate in the firm’s Miami office. Mr. Perkins practices in the areas of complex commercial litigation, creditors’ rights and bankruptcy and construction litigation. He has experience representing government entities in a range of issues, including contract negotiation, real estate disputes, and taxation.
Mr. Perkins earned his Juris Doctor from Boston University School of Law (“BUSL”). BUSL honored Mr. Perkins as a Paul J. Liacos Distinguished Scholar for being in the top ten percent of his second-year law school class. While in law school, Mr. Perkins spent over a year practicing under a special license with BUSL’s civil litigation clinic. Among other successes at the clinic, Mr. Perkins successfully appealed and overturned two cases denying applicants asylum. While in law school, Mr. Perkins volunteered with an immigrant rights organization and taught writing seminars for the National Black College Alliance.
Mr. Perkins earned his bachelor’s degree in only three years, graduating cum laude with a degree in International Area Studies from Drexel University and with distinct honors from Pennoni Honors College. While in college, Mr. Perkins interned for a United States Senator and researched for a United States Representative. He was also president of Drexel’s Biddle Law Society.
Mr. Perkins speaks Spanish fluently.
